I was thinking of a topic for us to talk about today and since I just finished my own wedding invitations and Christmas card sending time is here; I thought we could talk about cards and letters! I must tell you: I have a slight admiration for stationary and everything to do with pretty paper, envelopes, cards, letters, stamps, pens, notebooks and the list goes on.
I really don’t know why I like stationary products so much, but maybe it’s because I’m a little old fashioned, in that I mean: I’m one, of very few people today, that still love the feeling of receiving handwritten letters and cards in the mail. Texts and emails have nothing over the hand written word. Someone sat down and saved time out of their busy day, just to write you a note; to put their deepest thoughts and wishes down on beautiful paper and paid to have it sent your way. To me, that is something special! Some people may not understand my deep admiration of stationary and hand written words, but those of you do, know exactly what I’m talking about.
The recent finish of my wedding invitations, made me think of this lost art of hand written words. It seems to me, we really think of sending invitations through the mail for a wedding, but any other thing is just a simple text or even an evite.
Today, I don’t receive many cards and letters. I’ve tried to have pen pals, but sometimes those pen pals just fade away, or time gets in the way for the both of us. But when Christmas comes around, I take advantage and send my hand written notes in my carefully picked cards and send them off to the special people in my life! This week, many of those special people will be receiving my wedding invites and even though they’ve been typed, I handmade each one, cut, glittered and did a little stressing over the perfect stamp.
Text, emails, and evites are quick, easy and instant; but hand written letters are special, more meaningful and deeply personal. It can even be romantic!!
I hope you’ll consider to take some time out of your busy schedule, to write your thoughts and feelings down, to someone special in your life!
